AKC Agility Notice

Passed at the November AKC Board of Directors meeting was the following changes to the Regulations for Agility Trials for Agility competition at AKC Events. The changes applying to the MACH are effective February 1, 1999.

CHAPTER 2

AGILITY EXCELLENT CLASS

Omit the sentence after Agility Excellent Class in Chapter 2, Section 1, and replace with the following; The Excellent Class is divided into Division A for dogs that have acquired the Open Agility Title but which have not acquired a qualifying score in the Excellent B Class, and the Division B for dogs that have acquired the AX title and for dogs that have acquired the MX title. Qualifying scores for the AX title are acquired in the Excellent A class, and qualifying scores for the MX title and Master Agility Champion titles are acquired from the Excellent B class

CHAPTER 4

SCORING

Change the scoring of the table for the Excellent B Class in Chapter 4, Section 5, Bullet item #1 and the "mandatory elimination chart" as follows; No table faults are allowed in the Excellent B Class. Any table fault is an elimination in the Excellent B Class.

Change the last sentence of Chapter 4, Section 5, Bullet item #3 and the "mandatory elimination chart" regarding "dogs running the wrong course" to read as follows;

Wrong Courses are scored as follows:
Novice Two wrong courses are allowed with a 5 point deduction for each occurrence.
Open Two wrong courses are allowed with a 5 point deduction for each occurrence.
Excellent A One wrong course is allowed with a 5 point deduction.
Excellent B No wrong courses are allowed. Any wrong course is a elimination.

CHAPTER 6

MASTER AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM

SECTION 1.

PURPOSE: To recognize dogs that exhibit superior performance in the sport of Agility. The AKC Agility titling program NA/NAJ through MX/MXJ is based on a dog showing reasonable proficiency in the sport of Agility. To obtain the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPION title or "MACH" a dog must exhibit superior performance on the Agility course. Speed and consistency are the two major qualities denoting "superior performance" and therefore they are the basis for the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIP program.

SECTION 2.

Classes: The Excellent Agility Class is divided into Division A for dogs that have obtained the Open Agility title (OA), and Division B for dogs that have obtained either the Agility Excellent title (AX) or the Master Agility Excellent title (MX).

Move-ups between all Excellent A and Excellent B classes are allowed per Chapter 1 Section 13 based on the clubs move up policy stated in the premium list.

SECTION 3.

Master Agility Champion Requirements:

To obtain the Master Agility Champion Title (MACH) a dog must achieve a minimum of 750 Championship Points and 20 Double Qualifying scores (obtained in the Excellent B Classes) as listed below and as further defined in SECTION 4.

Dogs qualifying with scores of 100 in both the Standard Agility Class and the Jumpers With Weaves Class on the same day

Qualifying in both the Standard Agility Class and the Jumpers With Weaves Class on the same day equals 1 (2Q)

Dogs earn points from both the Standard Agility Class and/or the Jumpers With Weaves Agility Class

Placement Multiplier

Dogs placing first in their class double their championship points.

Dogs placing 2nd in their class receive 1 -1/2 times their standard championship points. (All fractions of points are rounded down).

SECTION 4.

Requirements General Scoring

Only scores of 100 (clear rounds) obtained in the Excellent B Classes (Standard Agility Class and/or the Jumpers With Weaves Class) will count towards a dogs Master Agility Championship requirements.

Scores of 85 or greater obtained in the Excellent B Standard Class will continue to qualify for an MX leg.

A dog does not have to obtain the Master Agility Excellent title (MX) or the Master Excellent Jumpers With Weaves title (MXJ) prior to achieving scores that will count towards their Master Agility Championship title (MACH). Any score of 100 (clear round) obtained in the Excellent B classes, will count towards both the dogs Championship requirements, and the dogs MX titling requirements.

Titles: The MACH title initials will be followed by a numeric designation indicating the quantity of times the dog has met the requirements of the MACH title as defined in Section 3, e.g. 1500 CP's and 40 2Q's = MACH2.
