Glenn and Emily at NADAC

Emily Venator & Glenn Hamilton of Barrie, Ontario, Canada (Venham)

Emily returned from the Injury Reserve List this past weekend for
limited duty at the NADAC trial in Milton, Ontario. She handled the
standard runs while I got to do the fun stuff in Gamblers and Jumpers.
We didn't enter the full program as agility training has been at a
stand-still here since June for the dogs and Emily.

Judges were Janet & Michelle Ooms, from Calgary, Alberta. Standard
courses were challenging with the Elite couses having between 17 and 26
obstacles. The gambles involved contacts and off side weaves, with not
many dogs being able to do either from the 20' gamble line.

The Saturday trial was a long one, starting at 7:30 a.m. and finishing
just after 7:00 p.m. The weather played a factor with rain, and wind.
Even the next door farmer got in on the action! It seems he decided the
trial was running on far too long and started during the last of the
standard classes to fertilize his fields with the oldest form of
fertilizer.

Our Border Collies had a good day in Jumpers with Jake moving from Open
to Elite and Henna moving from Novice to Open garnering some firsts
along the way. Henna's Jumpers course of 19 jumps in 19.19 seconds was
a "Zen" moment to savour for some time. Denia earned her final Novice
Jumpers leg and a 2nd placement beating out many of the skunks in the
20" class.

Our guy's standard runs were close to perfect, but close only counts in
horseshoes, and not at NADAC trials. We are off to an AKC trial at the
end of September, so that gives Emily lots of time to get back into the
swing of things!

That's all from the frosty north.
