From Betty Winfield of Nine Mile Falls WA
It is Betty who helped BAD put together all the USDAA records from the very
beginning and it is her K.C. who earned the first ever Beardie AAD (the
USDAA Advanced Agility Dog title). K.C. also earned the First Open Agility
title in NADAC and tied for the first Novice Jumpers title. Casey had his
Advanced AKC agility title as well as a Canadian Agility title. When not
doing Agility. K.C. did Obedience, earning his CDX. Betty has lost a very
accomplished Beardie at a young age, just before his seventh Birthday. We
extend to her our heartfelt condolences on her loss of K.C. Betty, he is
missed!

K.C. was a great ambassador for the breed. He will be missed not only by
his family, but also by his numerous friends (both human and canine) in
the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. (Check your 1997 BOW Calendars
in January and April for photos.)
Indirectly, his autoimmune disease is the reason for his death. Because
his immune system was compromised and suppressed by a low dose of prednisone,
a micro-organism (probably toxoplasmosis) was able to overwhelm his immune
system. Final autopsy results are not yet in--his autoimmune survey will
certainly be updated when additional information is available.
Please go and give your beardies a big hug right now!
