Marilynn Snook's Lakotah!

Rainbow Bridge

24 December 1997 – 5 April 2013

On April 5th I had to say goodbye to my beloved Lakotah! She was 15 years 3 1/2 months. She didn't have anything medically wrong, but her little body was just totally giving out on her. She was beginning to have more bad days than good ones. It was very hard, and I miss her so much. She was my heart dog, and my heart is breaking now. Lakotah! is the one who got me into all the fun dog things I do today. She always wanted to please me, and she had almost 30 titles in herding, agility, and obedience. She never cared what she was doing though, as long as she was with me. The titles weren't the important thing; the love and companionship we shared is what I will miss. Run free, my sweet Lakotah! You will be forever in my heart . . . until we meet again. I love you! -Marilynn

TRIBUTE TO NIKKOMAH

Three years ago today I had to say goodbye to my first beardie -- and my best friend! Those of you 'old timers' who were on the list then will remember the gut-wrenching time I went through. Last night I was reading through all of your posts from that day, and thanking my lucky stars for such wonderful friends -- you all pulled me through it with your love and support!! (and I was also sobbing as all the hurt and loss came back to me).

Nikki was, and still is, such a big part of my heart and soul. There are still times I feel her with us . . .if not for her, I never would have discovered beardies! She was my "forever dog", and I'll never forget her. . . . . as I wrote the first year:

Nikki -
You were my world, my heart, my soul . . . . and even though we are not together physically today, I still feel your presence everywhere. You will always be a part of me, as love NEVER dies! You will be, "forever in my heart". Rest well, my sweet angel - "twas heaven here with you . . . I loved you so!". Till we meet again at that Rainbow Bridge . . .

JUST MY DOG
(Dedicated to Nikkomah)

She's just my dog. . . . .
She is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
my other ears that hear above the winds.

She has told me more than a thousand times over that I am her reason for being --
by the way she rests against my leg,
by the way she thumps her tail at my smallest smile,
by the way she shows her hurt when I leave without taking her.
(I think it makes her sick with worry when she is not along to care for me).

When I am wrong, she is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry she clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, she is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, she ignores it. When I succeed, she brags.

Without her, I am only another person. With her, I am all powerful!
She has taught me the meaning of devotion is loyalty itself. With her, I know the secret comfort and a private peace. She has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. Her head on my knee can heal my human hurts. Her presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
