- NADAC National Championships 2005
Three of our Beardies qualified for the NADAC Nationals, held from October 12 to 16 in Lake St. Louis, MO. Shiela Franklin's Bracey qualified for all but Touch and Go (or as Ruth Bryden calls it....Touch and Blow:-) and Gamblers. Amy Steltz' Bobby qualified for five of the six NADAC Elite classes, and Jack Buhite's Caper qualified for three, Elite Jumpers, Weavers, and Tunnelers. All of these Beardies have earned the 1000 Point Award.
Sheila Franklin's Bracey, Wynsum Embrace The Moment, NAJ, AAD, AR, AS, AJ, AG, S-OAC, S-OJC, OGC, O-TN-E, WV-E, TG-O, OVA, was the only Beardie to attend the NADAC nationals this year. Bracey, the First Place Agility Diehard Beardie, came in first at the NADAC Nationals! She won the Pre-elite Regular 20" placing in all four of her rounds, including two first placements, one of which was in the final round. "In her class, she was mainly competing against Aussies and Border Collies. Sheila and Bracey have worked very hard for this. And Sheila will be the first one to say that she goes through all the same problems that everyone else works through, like start line stays and contacts. But, it must have all come together this past week. We are all very proud of this extraordinary team. It is nice to see a NEW BC atop the placements. She has made Beardies everywhere proud. CONGRATULATIONS SHEILA AND BRACEY!!!!!" -- Tracy Hill, Matt and Gusto
"I had a blast and came home with WAY, WAY, WAY more ribbons and a trophy that I would have not even dreamed of. My goals going in were to A. stay on my feet (I tend to fall a lot and I actually tripped during the final. I heard my whole club start laughing - nice friends - when I was stumbling but managed to stay on my feet and actually started smiling as a result), B. show that Beardies are fast, focused, athletic and driven dogs, and C. place in at least one class. A belated thanks for all the good wishes and congratulations!" Shiela Franklin
