The Northern California Bearded Collie Fanciers are celebrating their Thirty-Fifth Anniversary and began their thirteenth annual Regional Specialty events on April 19 at WAG in Elk Grove with three days of all breed and Specialty agility trials. We are looking forward to Conformation, Sweeps, Herding, Obedience, and Rally in June. In all fifteen Beardie People and twenty Beardies attended the trial: David Anderson and Sharon Anderson with MacKenzie, Sharon Baker with Dani and Sophie, Jack Buhite and Libby Myers-Buhite with Ceilidh, Lark, and Frolic, Carol Colavecchio with Pal, Jana Dozet, who came Beardieless just to help out, Pam Harris with Mary and Kona, Steve Lausmann with Izzy and Bailey, Molly McNamara with Max and Stanley, Dianne Morey with Royal, Pat Palozzola, who came as a vendor with a different Beardie each day, Sharon Prassa with Ry, Karen Ryder with Sadie and Sheena, and Shannon Smart with Beckham and Loki. Although Tammy Domico, Meha Harthill, and Janice Kehoe had entered, they were unable to come and were greatly missed.
It is always a joy to hold a trial at the beautiful WAG site, so perfectly maintained by Dave Scheuner and Susan Rappillus. As usual, the comradeship was extraordinary and we particularly enjoyed socializing in “Beardie Row” between working very hard in all areas to make this a well-run and happy event. Many thanks to those who gave their all, especially our Trial Chair, Jack Buhite, Jana Dozet, Steve Lausmann, Sharon Prassa, and Pam Harris, who worked the entire trial from set-up to teardown. Our fourteen Beardies in competition did very well, earning twenty-four legs and several titles! Our Judges, Mark and Ann Rudd, were appreciated by all. Mark commented that Beardies’ athleticism is greatly under appreciated!

“Dear Libby, I want to thank you for creating the canvas that gave Pal and me the opportunity to have a Fun, Great Weekend. The Folks that make up the NCBCF and BAD Clubs are super. They are untiring workers, supportive in competition and provide their Beardies with activities that keep them healthy and happy. I so enjoyed hanging out with all of you. The ribbons and prizes were first class, and the lunches tasty. WAG is a great facility and I feel lucky that I live fairly close to it. We look forward to next year for some more fun.” – Carol Colavecchio, Pal and Joy
"We had a great time visiting with all of our beardie friends for the one day we were able to make the trial! Max, who is quasi-out of retirement, had fun in Preferred Jumpers and decided 10 out of 12 weave poles was enough - at 11+ years old, that's his call to make and as long as he was having fun I don't care! Stanley had a rip-roaring good time as well and but for handler error would have been clean. In the case of his first run, handler error was not walking him until he pooped - I was trying to avoid the burrs and foxtails but should have worked a little harder - he sure looked great right up to the oops moment though. In any case, he's a complete blast to run and we're looking forward to trialing more consistently than once every 3-4 months. And since I just got videos I figured I might as well share :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2dzioeCbWk Enjoy!" - Molly and the Highlander boys

Our Awards table drew many favorable comments! Each year our Agility Banner with a Beardie Jumping the Golden Gate Bridge is displayed, and our Pioneer Trophy, donated by Iris Berry, Sharon Prassa, and Libby and Jack Buhite in honor of Spiff, Annie, and Skye, is inscribed with all of our Agility Highs in Trial. Shannon Smart organized the High in Trial Gifts, lovely bags from Laura Columbo with a hand painted Beardie by Val Maloney. They were a hit both for Beardies and all-breed admirers and Beardie handlers desperately wanted to win one
