On Easter weekend, the NCBCF held two days of Regional Agility Trials in conjunction with our three all-breed trials. For the sixth year in a row, we returned to WAG, a private facility owned by Susan Rapillus and Dave Scheuner, which is totally dedicated to dog agility. I love its beautifully maintained lawns and enclosed play areas to warm up our dogs with frisbee and other games. To top it off, the weather was sunny and mildly warm, around 70 degrees with afternoon breezes.
Because it was Easter weekend, our Trial Secretary, Lorie Abbott, provided all kinds of treats, including a surprise buffet, prepared by Karen Schimmels, midway through our Friday afternoon trial, Easter baskets on every table throughout the weekend, and a Sunday morning Easter egg hunt for some very enthusiastic dogs.
Our judges were NCBCF's Tammy Domico, always a favorite, and Terry Culley. 22 Beardie people and 20 Beardies attended, making it a true “Beardie Fest!” Jack Buhite chaired and was very ably helped by club members Dave and Sharon Anderson, Charlie Banfield, Susie and Matt Beddoe, Iris Berry, Carleen Carver, Jana Dozet, Deb Duryea, Pam Harris, Janice Kehoe, Steve Lausmann, Dianne Morey, Libby Myers-Buhite, Sharon Prassa, and Shannon Smart. Of these, Jana Dozet worked as a full time Gate Steward and Jack and Steve built every course. Shannon ordered lovely HIT insulated totes, hand painted by Val Maloney. Those with other breeds envied us! Carleen Carver and Dianne Morey took several of the trial photos on this page. We are so grateful to all of you!

We began on Friday afternoon with the Excellent/Masters Classes and Time2Beat. Only four Beardies ran. Pam Harris’ Mary earned a QQ and a T2B leg; Steve Lausmann’s Bailey earned Standard and T2B legs; Jack Buhite’s Ceilidh earned a JWW leg; Suzi Beddoe’s Emma earned a T2B leg.
Saturday was our first Regional Day. Shannon Smart’s Beckham earned three Highs in Trial for Standard, FAST, and Time2Beat, as well as qualifying in JWW for a QQQQ! Jack Buhite’s Ceilidh earned High in Trial for JWW and 1st/10 in Preferred Time2 Beat. Pam Harris’ Mary earned a QQ for the second day in a row, Karen Ryder’s Sadie earned her Novice Jumpers title, and Dianne Morey’s Royal qualified in Time2Beat.
Easter Sunday was our second Regional Day. Dianne Morey’s Roy earned High in Trial for JWW, Steve Lausmann’s Bailey earned HIT for FAST, and Shannon Smart’s Beckham earned HIT for T2B. Steve Lausmann’s Bailey, Suzi Beddoe's Emma, and Dianne Morey’s Roy, also qualified in T2B. No one qualified in Standard so we teasingly gave the ribbon to Judge Tammy Domico.
Suzi Beddoe wrote: “Great weekend!! Always so nice to see friends and their beardies. The weather was perfect and the courses fun and challenging. You all made it worth the trip! Jana Dozet = best Gate person ever! Thank you for keeping us organized all weekend.”
Dianne Morey wrote: “Sooper fun agility weekend with the cowdog and the colliedog. Lots of running, fun courses, hot hot sun, some ribbons and Roy got a High in Trial. Big thanks to the NCBCF Club and ABBA Dogs for the great trial.”
